10 Best Gluten-Free Recipes for Fall

Back in April when I decided to go gluten-free, I felt like it was going to be impossible. I’d gone gluten-free before, temporarily, but never with the intention of doing it permanently. Somehow when thinking about never having my mom’s famous chocolate chip cookies, or Dunkin’ Donuts munchkins, or Wendy’s chicken nuggets, among many, many, many other things, again, was overwhelming.

But, the thought of continuing to be crippled by migraines – well, that was also too much. I was finally ready to take the plunge and go permanently gluten-free. And I’m not looking back.

Fall is here, and it’s my favorite time of year for food. I’m a total basic B. Give me all the pumpkin spice. Except most of my favorites are full of gluten – the very thing that gives me migraines. Hard pass.

So, I’m dead-set determined to make this an amazing gluten-free fall. I’m here to tell you that it is possible to enjoy your favorite fall treats while avoiding all things gluten. Here are some of the most delicious, mouth-watering fall recipes I’ve found that are delightfully gluten-free.

Pumpkin Cookies

This one from Amy In The Kitchen is a delight. Perfectly cake-like and soft – and – made with ingredients you probably already have!

Pecan Pie Baked Oatmeal

Nothing says fall (or Thanksgiving) like pecan pie. Skip the gluten and sugar-laden pecan pies this year and give this pecan pie baked oatmeal from Lively Table a try.

Chai-Spiced Pumpkin Caramel Coffee Cake

One of my least-favorite words begins with “m” and rhymes with hoist. I’ll spare you from the use of it, but this coffee cake from Cooking On The Weekends – well, it’s perfectly not dry.

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Where are my lazy chefs at? *raises hand* I don’t always have time to bake from scratch. I try to do it as often as possible, but sometimes I just don’t feel like it. Enter these incredibly easy – and delicious – pumpkin muffins from King Arthur Flour.

Pumpkin Spice Latte Cupcakes with Coffee Frosting

My happy place is enjoying a crisp fall day with a fresh pumpkin spice latte (see, I told you I was basic). These gluten-free (and bonus – dairy-free!) pumpkin spice latte cupcakes have coffee frosting and the combination is simply to die for. Even better than your annual PSL fix.

Vegan Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Oat Bars

These incredible chocolate chip pumpkin oat bars are not only gluten-free, but they’re also vegan! They’re also very low in added sugar, sweetened with applesauce and brown sugar (you could absolutely omit the brown sugar, as the applesauce and chocolate chips are plenty sweet.).

Apple Custard Cake

If you have a bounty of apples from the orchard, this is the gluten-free recipe for you this fall. With sweet notes of apples and spice, a cake-like crust, and custard on top, it’s pure heaven.

Pumpkin Banana Bread

I’ll be honest. Half the reason I’m sharing this recipe is because I adore the blog’s name – What The Fork. The other half is that it’s amazing. Pumpkin paired with bananas and spices is the perfect combination of fall flavors.

Grain-Free Pumpkin Snickerdoodles

There’s a growing group of people who are grain-free for a variety of health reasons (I suspect I’ll be in that group at some point in the reasonably near future). These grain-free pumpkin snickerdoodles are ideal for anyone cutting back on grains on top of gluten, and they’re delightfully low in sugar.

Apple Cider Doughnuts

You simply cannot have fall without apple cider doughnuts. I refuse to give them up just because I’m not eating gluten ever again. These doughnuts from Seasonal Cravings are the ideal balance of apple cider flavor with a hint of maple.

It’s entirely possible to remain gluten-free while still enjoying your favorite fall treats like doughnuts, cookies, cupcakes, and other baked goods.
